You Know You Have Arrived - When You Arrive!!
Built in 1931 the Westmount Golf and Country Club has a special panache. The club house and pro shop are top drawer. The tudor style archecture gives the club a feeling of another time and another place. The fact that the golf bag jockey knew our host - Dan Einwechter - by name was even more impressive. Score Magazine (2002) rates Westmount as the 14th best course in Canada!

Welcome to Westmount
There are few clubhouse's that rival Westmount. The locker rooms, lounge and pro shop prove why Westmount is consistently ranked as one of the top 20 golf course's in Canada. And hey, that's before you even play the course. Westmount will certainly prove to be one of the featured stops on the Thompson Tour.

A Real Tribute To Stanley
This plaque is prominently placed on the first hole. It pays homage to Canada's finest golf course architect. According to this plaque Stanley designed, remodeled and constructed 145 golf course in North and South America plus the West Indies!
What A Challenging Course
Traditionally, Stanley would not start you off with a par 5, 511 yard monster. He would let you warm up first. Which was the case until Westmount made some major modifications when they took out the first four holes to incorporate a top-notch practise facility and first rate hard-tru tennis courts. Notice how hard it is to get an even lie.
The Moresome Foursome
Our most gracious host, Dan Einwetcher (in the red cap) and his brother Dave (book ending the picture), made this day a real delight. Aside from the hospitality, watching Dan play from other fairways to attack Stanley's pin placement was quite amazing. Meanwhile brother Dave had the round of his life. Go figure.
Stanley and His Par Three's
Stanley is famous for his par three's. They are beautiful and seductively simple. Yet, try to get a par! This Westmount beauty was 165 yards of fun. I miss hit the ball and ended up 12 feet short of the hole. My best shot of the day!
Dan and Dave Plan Strategy
The 8th hole is tight. The way Dave was driving the ball that was no problem. Dan on the other hand was trying to figure out if there was another fairway better to play to approach the hole. When everything was said and done we all managed to keep the ball in play.
A Man Eating Hole
Stanley threw the kitchen sink at us on this hole. A slight dog leg. Rolling hills. Sloped fairways. A small and elevated greens surrounded by hills and traps and a nice slope. Needless to say this one ate us alive!
The Stanley Tradition Lives On!
Dan Einwechter graciously accepts his Stanley Tool Screwdriver Kit. He was touched.
Let The Fun Begin!!!
Stanley was a great golf architect. I don't thing we could have foresaw the the club house location. Located right on the 18th hole, a few balls have gone wizzing in betweeen tables, chairs and heads. Is it any wonder that every approaching foursome got a little bit of extra attention as they made their triumphic walk up the 18th?
The Devil Is In The Details
Dan had us playing a number of games. Somehow when we got to the 19th hole the score card got shuffled aside and the really important things drew our attention - steak, beer and the desert tray.
